Jan 07, 2009· Tried the box out last night with fine and coarse lead mixed into a bucket of actual wash material brought home from the last trip for just this testing purpose with 100% recovery on all 4 runs as well as quite a bit of gold I did not know was in the dirt on the first run. No gold was found in the following runs of the bucket.

For all intents, the dry washer is basically designed to be a short, waterless slu. It separates gold from sand by pulsations of air coming up through a porous cloth medium. The vibrations and flow of air replace the function of water in the normal slu, allowing the gold to settle downward.
Dry-Washing for gold goes back to the earliest days of gold discovery, where water was not availe to separate the valuable minerals from waste sand and rock. The early miners devised crude methods of utilizing the flow of air and vibration to concentrate and separate valuable materials like gold and gemstones from sand and gravel.
